2013-2014 Student Calendar
Here is the 2013-2014 Student Calendar.  Once again we worked closely with the other Yuba County districts to closely align the calendars. All of the holidays and vacations are aligned with Marysville and the 2 Wheatland School Districts. The only differences are the start and end dates.

2012 Test Results
AMAZING TEST SCORE RESULTS!!!

PLESD's Academic Performance Index (API) score is 858. An increase of 27 points from 2011. This is the highest district API of all neighboring districts. PLESD met 17 of 17 of our Adequate Yearly Progress (AYP) goals.

Cobblestone Elementary' s API  is 870. This is a 51 point growth since 2011 and a 100 API point growth in 2 years. Met 13 out of 13 AYP goals and therefore exits Program Improvement. Less than 2% of schools in California were able to do that this year.

Riverside Meadows increases 49 API points to 842.  This is a 78 point growth in 2 years. Met 17 of 17 AYP goals and freezes Program Improvement at Year 3. If Riverside meets all 17 goals in 2013 they will exit Program Improvement.

Rio Del Oro scored 881 on the API. This is the 2nd highest API score in Yuba County and the 3rd highest in Yuba & Sutter Counties

Importance of Student Attendance

Your Child's Attendance is Important!

Reason 1: Student attendance is closely linked to student academic success.

Reason 2: Every day a student is absent (no matter the reason) the district loses money.

Not only is regular school attendance crucial to the development and education of children, but it is directly linked to our revenue. A large portion of the revenue we receive for our General fund operating expenses is determined by student attendance. Last year from August -March there were 5,478 absences district wide for a total loss of $215,417.

What can you do to help?

1)     If your child is not sick send him or her to school. Many times students with minor complaints- stomach ache, headache, etc. should be in school.

2)     Plan your family vacations around the school calendar.

3)     If you must take a family vacation, please inform the school 1 week in advance and sign an Independent Study contract. This is only available for 5 or more consecutive days of absence.

4)     Schedule appointments after school hours. If you must schedule an appointment during school please send your child for part of the day. Understand that any full day absence costs the district money. Any partial day attendance we receive full funding.

PLEASE ENSURE YOUR STUDENT IS IN SCHOOL.

ABSENCES AFFECT YOUR STUDENT ACADEMICALLY AND THE PROGRAMS PLESD CAN OFFER.
